Living in Harefield

Harefield is a country village within Greater London. Located in the Borough of Hillingdon, near its borders with Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire, Harefield has a close-knit community feel and plenty of green spaces, shops, and pubs. It’s also home to the pioneering heart and lung centre, Harefield Hospital. Although there’s no train or Underground station in the village itself, local buses connect you easily to Uxbridge, Northwood, Denham, and Rickmansworth stations. Harefield is a peaceful setting that blends rustic charm with good links to London’s services, making it an ideal home for older adults and those with disabilities.

What's happening in and around Harefield

Harefield Library

We suggest paying a visit to Harefield Library on Park Lane, UB9 6BJ. Alongside books, media, public computers, and online resources, the library has a Tovertafel. Often called a magic table, it’s a light projection system for people living with dementia and other cognitive disabilities, creating games that are fun, stimulating, and easy to enjoy.

Adults and children with special needs are welcome to book sessions, and families can take part together. Community groups and organisations are also encouraged to arrange visits. Regular activities, such as Dementia Coffee Mornings, provide a chance to socialise in a friendly setting. To find out more or to book, you can contact the library on 01895 558184 or email harefield-library@hillingdon.gov.uk.

Fitness & Fun – For Over 55s

We recommend trying the Fitness & Fun sessions for over 55s at Harefield Community Centre, Priory Avenue, UB9 6AP. These friendly classes run every Wednesday morning from 10:30 am to 12 noon and are designed to help you move at your own pace while enjoying music. The aim is to loosen joints, improve muscle tone, and boost energy in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Each session is followed by tea or coffee, making it a great way to socialise as well as keep active. The first session is free, and after that the cost is £5 with a £12 annual membership required. Everyone is welcome to pop in and give it a try. For more details, email harefieldcommunitycentre@btconnect.com or visit their website at www.harefieldcommunitycentre.weebly.com.

More reasons to choose Tiggo Care

Our packages are bespoke

At Tiggo Care we understand how precious your loved one is to you and how unique they are. We also appreciate how overwhelming it can be to research and source the most suitable type of care.

We fundamentally believe that there is no ‘one size fits all’ care package and like to work with you and your loved one to understand your specific requirements. We’ll then create a tailored care package and match your relative with their ideal carer.

We're fully regulated

Unlike some other care providers, we are fully regulated by the Care Quality Commission. This means we are regularly inspected, rated and audited and ensures that we are a safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led organisation, committed to delivering the best possible care.

We’re also proud members of the Homecare Association, the U.K’s membership body for home care providers, which holds organisations to a high set of standards and requests them to abide by a strict code of practice

Our carers are fully vetted & trained

At Tiggo Care, all our carers undergo a rigorous recruitment and induction process. They are fully vetted and background checked, with all references followed up. Our carers also undertake their training on the best eLearning system currently available within the UK care market, ensuring they are well placed to deliver the best possible service. Specialist training courses such as moving and handling, medications and basic life support are also completed by our carers face to face, as we feel these courses are more effective when delivered in person.
