What to expect with our live-in care service

Familiar home setting

Our live-in care service offers your loved one the opportunity to receive the care they need from the comfort and security of their own home. Not only is live-in care often cheaper than moving your loved one to a care home, but it also enables them to maintain their independence and pursue their own hobbies and interests whether that be visiting friends, getting out in the local community, pottering around the shops, or spending time with their pets.

Continuity of care

Living with the same care assistant for up to four to twelve weeks will enable your loved one to build a strong relationship with their carer. This will help the carer to gain a better understanding of your relative’s needs as well as their likes and dislikes and pave the way for a close companionship.

24/7 assistance

With our round-the-clock live-in care, our carers will be on hand to respond to any unforeseen tasks or ad hoc emergencies, ensuring both you and your loved one have total peace of mind.

A day in the life with Maria

Headshot of a care assistant

"One of the most important parts of my job is companionship. Whether I’m watching a movie with the person I’m caring for, chatting about different topics with them, going out together, reading to them or maintaining their skin care routine, I always get to know my person and aim to keep them happy by balancing what they’d prefer to do with what’s best for them."

More reasons to choose Tiggo Care

Our Care packages are bespoke

At Tiggo Care we understand how precious your loved one is to you and how unique they are. We also appreciate how overwhelming it can be to research and source the most suitable type of care.

We fundamentally believe that there is no ‘one size fits all’ care package and like to work with you and your loved one to understand your specific requirements. We’ll then create a tailored care package and match your relative with their ideal carer.

We're fully regulated

Unlike some other care providers, we are fully regulated by the Care Quality Commission. This means we are regularly inspected, rated and audited to ensure we are a safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led organisation, committed to delivering the best possible care.

We’re also proud members of the Homecare Association, the U.K’s membership body for home care providers, which holds organisations to a high set of standards and requests them to abide by a strict code of practice

Our carers are fully vetted & trained

At Tiggo Care, all of our carers undergo a rigorous recruitment and induction process. They are fully vetted and background checked, with all references followed up. Our carers undertake their training on the best eLearning system currently available within the UK care market, ensuring they are well placed to deliver the best possible service. Specialist training courses such as moving and handling, medications and basic life support are also completed by our carers face to face, as we feel these courses are more effective when delivered in person.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is live-in care?

Live-in care is the day-to-day practical and emotional support provided by a caregiver who has moved into the same home as the person they’re caring for. It enables those cared for to feel safe and independent in a familiar setting.

What does a live-in carer do?

Live-in carers assist with a range of tasks including household chores such as meal preparation and cleaning, personal care such as shaving or bathing and medication reminders. They’ll also offer your loved one comfort and companionship as well as specialist round-the-clock medical support if required.

How much does live-in care cost?

The cost of live-in care depends on the level and type of care required, the number of people receiving care and the length of time live-in care is required. For further information on how much live-in care might cost you or your loved one, please contact us.

How many hours does a live-in carer work?

Although a live-in carer will live with your loved one 24 hours a day, the number of hours they work depends on the type of care your loved one needs. This will be agreed upon before care begins. On average our carers work between 40-45 hours per week.

What happens if my loved one’s live-in carer is on holiday or sick leave?

If your loved one’s carer is off sick or taking annual leave, we’ll source a replacement carer - one who’ll understand their needs and cause minimal disruption to their daily routine. We know a change of carer can be unsettling, so we’ll do our utmost to ensure a smooth transition.
